Campaign in support of imprisoned mothers: Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the jailed mothers
Every person, including a mother, has the right to engage in civil activism. A person should have free choice. Any limitations, including using the children to restrict a mother’s civil activities, is wrong. The mothers who are behind bars for their civil rights activities are not responsible for being away from their children. What the jailed mothers have chosen is peaceful civil rights activism and not the prison! They have sacrificed their freedom for the struggle to guarantee social freedom, security, and prosperity not only for their own children, but for all children. So, why are these mother deprived of their right to motherhood? Why are the children snatched away from their mothers’ warm arms? Isn’t the family the basic unit of the society? Why have so many families fallen apart simply because the mothers in these families have spoken of and demanded civil rights?
We stand together in asking for the release of jailed mothers
